This week on Talk Sex With Dick, Sex Therapist Dr. Richard Mills talks about Long Distance Relationships, Dating a Smoker, Low Sex Drive, and Gay Sex.
What’s going on in my gay world….
Last week I went up to the Catskills in Upstate New York, with some friends for a hike. In anticipation to check into our bungalow, we found out the place where we were staying was rented out to another family.
I just finished reading I’m So Glad You’re Here by Pamela Gay (I highly recommend this book), and now started reading Maria Semple’s recent release of Today Will Be Different.
I’ve come to realize that Al and Bob Noodle are completely useless. Talking about my recent run in with a mouse in my apartment, neither of my cats decided to act.
A huge thank you to Brianna over at Cat Genie, who sent over the parts to fix this brilliant creation! If you have a cat, this contraption will save your life.
I recently started a blog, where I will be posting articles and tips about sexual health, sex, sexuality, gender, mental health and culture. This week I provide some easy steps men can take when they’re experiencing symptom of Erectile Dysfunction – to read the article CLICK HERE.
Before discussing long distance relationships, let’s dive in to what is going on in the news!
In the news….
In an article posted by Hot New Hiphop, Florida candidate KW Miller tweeted that Beyoncé is not African American but Italian. He claims it’s apart of some subversive agenda to promote the Black Lives Matter movement. We hope Mr. Miller gets the help he needs.
The Los Angeles Blade exposes Corey Hannon, who went on a social media tirade about having COVID-19 while gallivanting Fire Island Pines in New York City. As a result of the video he posted, he is experiencing cancel culture and being called a “Karen.” I talk about how while he was not practicing social responsibility. As a culture we need to be cautious throwing around the term “karen” as a way to gain 15 minutes of fame on Social Media.
In a the news, CNN reported that Somerville, Massachusetts is the first city that will now openly recognize polyamorous relationships as part of a new domestic partnership ordinance.
According to the Advocate, the Gill Foundation (a Gay Tech Entrepreneur’s Foundation) donated $250,000 to save the historic Stonewall Inn from closing its doors. Stonewall has now raised a total of $311,471 on GoFundMe. If you would like to donate to Stonewall CLICK HERE!
Questions from listeners….
The first listener wrote in about being in a long distance relationship, and the struggles they’re facing. They wonder if they should stay in the relationship to call it quits. I talk about my own experience in an LDR and the key to its survival was having a date to close the distance.
The second listener writes about how they are experiencing low sex drive and finding it difficult to really be present. They were having sex 2-3 times per day, but now it’s once every two weeks. They are worried and inquire if this is “normal.”
The next listener questions their sexual compatibility. Their partner is a top, and while they prefer masturbation their partner has made it clear that he doesn’t want to bottom. This listener now feels frustrated, which has led to fighting. He says that “sex now feels like a chore.” In response, I discuss the dynamics of gay sex. I also explore why his partner might not want to bottom. I recommend they explore a book on bottoming How to Bottom Without Pain or Stains, which can be helpful to address this in their relationship.
Finally, the last listener discusses a situation where they are dating a guy who has bad breath due to smoking. They discuss how they feel “grossed out…kissing him.” They’re at a point where they will provide an ultimatum. They are saying “it’s either me or the cigs.” I discuss the attachments to smoking and how to address this issue in their relationship.
