This week on Talk Sex With Dick, Sex Therapist Dr. Richard Mills talks about having sex in cars, Taylor Swift, birthday celebrations, and upstate New York.
We revisit last year, when she met Malik Yoba and Chuck Schumer at the Annual Prospect Park swaray, where we celebrated her birthday. Because of COVID-19 we decided to go upstate New York for a hike and stay at an Airbnb.
The night prior, we attended a NYC Pride social distancing party, where myself and my partner were invited to attend.
This podcast has been recorded in many places, but today’s we record in her car while driving upstate. On this adventure we discuss our plans to hike in Socrates and reenact TLC’s Waterfalls music video. After the hike we plan to go grocery shopping, and check into our bungalow in the mountains.
While my partner is driving, and Asa is in the front passenger seat. I provide commentary as the backseat driver.
Adventures with Taylor Swift….
Before we talk about having sex in cars, Asa tells about the time she drove by Taylor Swift’s home in Road Island on a road trip. We talk about our love for Taylor and feeling like we are living the song All Too Well. Asa discussed how that trip was defining for her – how it was a time of change and transition.

Stories of sex in cars with boys…
I tell the story about when I was a freshman in college, not out, and hooked up with the saxophone player in my band. Living with my parents and they with theirs, we would make love in the back of my 1989 Astro van.
Asa shares her experience, when she was dating a cop. I talk about my own experiences of dating police officers. Going into detail, she gives a play-by-play experience. She went on to talk about how while she normally would need candles and flowers, she became lost in the moment and had sex in his car. Needless to say, she never made it to the party.
I talk about how some people need sex to connect, while others need to connect before having sex. Discussing traditional values, we talked about the concept of saving yourself before marriage. Asa points out that monogamy was a European concept, and that women were once viewed as property – which is the product of marriage.
Somehow we got distracted (as we usually do while talking), we discuss how Pete Buttigieg is a sexy daddy and wonder if he’d rocked the beard during his campaign would he be the Democratic Presidential Candidate.
Thirty Things for 30…
As we venture into Asa’s birthday weekend, we discuss 30 goals she will incorporate into her life over the next year. She recommends Shonda Rhimes book Year of Yes: How to Dance It Out, Stand In the Sun and Be Your Own Person.
She discusses the need to further explore her new self – being more direct and using her voice to assert herself. We discuss culturally, how if women are assertive, they’re often given the label of bitch.
It’s okay to have sex in cars…
We discuss how it’s okay to have sex in a car or wherever you want to allow your freak flag to fly. What’s most important is to get out of New York City and explore the beauty of nature in upstate New York.
