Episode 38: Working the Poll

Talk Sex with Dick podcast episode 38

This week on Talk Sex With Dick, NYC Sex Therapist Dr. Richard Mills talks with Asa Scott about being a poll worker, the voice voting finding love at a strip club, becoming an exotic dancer, the 2020 Presidential Election, and making sure your vote counts.

Working the polls…

Asa talks about how she decided to become a poll worker, and why this is important to her. She discussed her involvement in the political process.

What is important to know, is that while you may have the right to vote, not every vote will be counted.

She discusses her rage as an African American woman, and how those in positions of political power (specifically Republicans) have been successful in silencing POC communities from having their voices heard – which is why she became motivated to become a poll worker.

She talks about how even if someone votes, it does not mean their vote will be counted.

Stories from Indiana…..

I share how a being a poll worker has an entirely different meaning in Indiana, and how my friend met the love of his life when she was an exotic dancer at a strip club in Kokomo. Or another story of a woman who used to go to stripper classes to learn how to poll dance for her man.

Back to Voting…

Diving deeper, Asa explains the voting voice and  how different states have different about registering to vote and what is needed when arriving to the poll on election day.  And while you can  no longer register to vote in New York, to participate in the 2020 Presidential Election, you can become registered in the future.

And other stuff…
